The Phantom to Perform Benefit for Crossroads!

April 10, 2010

Franc D’Ambrosio will present a cabaret-style benefit performance on Saturday, April 10, 2010 for Crossroads. “Crossroads Carousel Cabaret Featuring Franc D’Ambrosio” will be held at the Quail Hollow Resort in Concord. D’Ambrosio is known as the “Phantom’s Iron Man of the Mask.” He recently relinquished his decade long held title of “World’s Longest Running Phantom.”

D’Ambrosio will perform the cabaret version of "Franc D'Ambrosio's Broadway,” an array of Broadway classics including songs from The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and many more Broadway favorites. The show weaves funny, warm hearted stories of growing up in the Bronx, how he was cast in Phantom and in Godfather III as the opera-singing Corleone son.

D’Ambrosio will also be available at a post-event VIP reception to autograph his latest CD.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner in the Grand Ballroom. The concert will feature intimate staging with D’Ambrosio on stage with piano accompaniment.

Tickets are $125 per person. VIP tickets, at $150 per person, will also include a post-concert reception where guests will have an opportunity to meet the star up close and personal.

For overnight guests, Quail Hollow Resort is offering a special room rate of $99 for those attending the event. Please contact Heather Gortz at (440) 350-3506.

To purchase tickets for “Crossroads Carousel Cabaret Featuring Franc D’Ambrosio,” or for more information, call (440) 255-1700 or e-mail carousel@crossroads-lake.org. Additional information is also available at www.crossroads-lake.org.

All proceeds will go to support arts therapy and the newly created A+ Program for children with autism. Last year Crossroads opened its first classroom for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other issues. The program is designed to help ease the transition from elementary school to middle school. It is an addition to existing elementary, middle-school and high-school programs at the Crossroads Therapeutic School, formally known as the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).

Carousel 2008

  Crossroads Carousel Cabaret
featuring Maureen McGovern

Over 160 people packed the grand ballroom of the Quail Hollow Resort in Concord on May 10th for recording artist and actress Maureen McGovern's cabaret-style performance as a benefit for Crossroads.

Based on her latest album, Ms. McGovern's show was entitled "A Long and Winding Road," and featured hits from the 60's and 70's.

Ms. McGovern's signature song is The Morning After, the theme from the film The Poseidon Adventure.

The event also included a silent auction and a post-concert VIP reception.

Ms. McGovern also presented a workshop on May 9. "Musically Speaking: Milligrams of Hope and Healing Support in Lecture and Song" drew about 40 therapists, counselors and others interested in the therapeutic value of music.

In a career spanning 35 years, Ms. McGovern has performed on Broadway, in movies, on television and with top orchestras across the country.

The event raised more than $18,000 in sponsorships and $6,000 from a silent auction and jewelry sale.  Funds raised will go toward expanding arts therapy programs at Crossroads.
